Pre-wedding functions are a different job from the ceremony. People move around, sit in groups, eat and perform, so the decor has to make places to be rather than one thing to look at. Seating, floor and backdrop get planned as a social layout.
They are also where a theme can be taken further than the wedding day would allow. Painted backdrops, strong colour, patterned floors, lounge furniture in something other than white: the tone is lighter and the design can be.
A sangeet with performances needs a stage, sightlines, sound and lighting that respond to what is happening on it, which is where the production side of the company earns its place in the evening.
